The Iriquis Constitution
This story was terrible it didnt make sense and i could barely read it because it was just so boring. In the story it said "in the roots mind etc" how could a tree root have a mind of its own is what i want to know. One thing that i though was pretty cool though was they put an eagle on top of the tree so that the bird could see if there was any evil or bad things coming towards them. They used the tree for medachine food and alot of other things people needed to stay alive and be healthy. The Great Creator of the tree lays in the heaven and he looks over everything he makes. That to me is like our god and like our creation story that God made everything and he lives in heaven and he looks down on us and watches us.

The Nvavjo Origin Legend (:
This story was weird and not good. In the beggining of the story they started off by the man and the woman washing themselves with cornmeal. the woman with yellow corn mean and the man with white corn mean. this comfused me because why would they use cornmean to wash themselves, how clean can that possibly make you? why wouldnt they just wash themselves with water from a well or a pond or something? Another thing i didnt really like or understand was how the god put down a yellow and a white feather and then the wind blew and the yellow feather turned into a woman and the white turned into a man. like thats doesnt even make sence and sounds really strang and unrealistic. Another thing that i didnt like but was common back then was just becase the man and the woman were the first man and woman that auto ment that they had to be husband and wife. but what if they hated eachother? would they still have chosen to be together because they are the first and only man and woman couple?

When Grizzlies walked upright.
I didnt really like this story because it went in way to many directions. first it started off in the sky and the chief of the sky spirits got tired of his home and so he made a new one then he made his family come down to live with him when he was done. He made the grizzlies so that they were feirce and they lived in the forest and they walked and talked like humans. I didnt like this story because it was very unrealistic. Theres deffinatly no such thing as a sky god. and he most certainly did not create the earth. While i was reading this is felt like i was in elementary school again because it was just a childish story that i would have read in like 2nd grade or something. I also thought it was very strang that a human married a bear. in real like there is no way a woman would ever marry a bear. And theres also no way that a bear could walk like and talk like a human. so overeverall i did not like this story at all

The Earth on the Turtles Back (:
My first thought when i was reading this story was that it reminded me of a childs story for an easy way to say the earth was created. One thing that i didnt understand was when the woman had the dream that the tree was uprooted, why they man had to really uproot the tree just because she had that powerfull dream. I though this was extremly unrealistic because one man could never just grab onto and tree and completely uproot it from the ground. Most of the characters were all animals that talked, i thought it was cute how all the aminals worked together to help the woman. In real life i really couldnt see animals of diffrent species working together and helping eachother to help a human. I thought it was a typical that the uncordinated and weak muskrat was the one that in the end swam and reached the earth even though she almost died doing it. In every story its always the least expecting character that saves something in the end. But in this story she saved the world because of her strong determination to do it. One thing that interested me about this story was how the turtle carried the earth on its back and thats how it got the marks on its shell, and i though that that was a funny way to try to explain why turtles have hard bumpy shells on thier backs. In this story the setting was interesting because at first the woman was in the sky in "skyland" and all the aminals were down in the water. The setting for the woman changed because when her husband uprooted the tree she was curious and was trying to look down on the water and she fell in. It was also cute how the swans made an effort to make sure the woman was gonna be okay when she was falling and caught her.

Christopher Columbus (:
The first thing i noticed about this story was how descriptive he was when he was describing everything, he was so descripitve that i could picture the island in my mind. While i was reading this story it kind of brought me back to elementary school when we first started learning about Christopher Columbus and the saything they taught us to help us remember the date. "He sailed the ocean blue in 1492". One thing i didnt really understand about the story is why the natives left thier houses unattended and just left. It said that they fled because they were afread and heard people coming ashore so they left all their belongings behind and got out of the area. It didnt make sense to me why they would be afread. I really dont think this story had a meaning, probably because it was a journal entry from Christopher Columbus' real journal about when he arrived at the island. By reading this you could tell that he was writing it for the king and queen to read, because when he was describing everything he made everything sound so amazing and perfect. I think he did this because the king and queen are taking care of the expenses of his journey and he has to make them think it was worth while even if it means aggaerating a litte bit. I was surprised when i read about him bringing back an aloe plant, because he was told that it was valueable. I dont know if it was valueable back then but i guess it must have been. Now a days people that like to cook often have aloe plants in or near thier kitchens just in case they get burnt.
